ABSTRACT: This study explored the Effects of Early Childhood Education on Urban Planning. The objectives of this study were to: (1) explore the effects of early childhood education (ECE) programs on shaping children's understanding of urban environments and planning, (2) assess the effectiveness of urban education activities in fostering civic responsibility and community engagement, and (3) determine the long-term impacts of urban planning education on sustainable development. A survey research design was justified to collect comprehensive data from educators, parents, and urban planners about their experiences with urban planning education in ECE settings. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and urban planning professionals, was selected using purposive sampling to ensure representation from urban and peri-urban communities in Abuja, Nigeria. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers known for their emphasis on environmental sustainability and urban studies. Findings indicated that ECE programs significantly enhanced children's awareness of urban issues, fostering skills in community planning and environmental stewardship. It is recommended that early childhood education centers continue to integrate urban planning education into their curricula, collaborate with local government agencies and urban planners, and engage families in community development initiatives to create livable and sustainable urban environments.
